Very Disappointing Downgrade Disguised As An Upgrade! I replaced a Ring Video Doorbell Pro (1st gen), expecting equal or better performance. The new model removed pixel‑based motion detection and relies on radar and infrared, which caps detection distance to ~20–30 ft. It misses events my old doorbell caught effortlessly (such as someone at my mailbox or walking up my driveway, both more than 30 ft away from the doorbell). The extremely wide-angle camera lens probably doesn't help, reducing objects at a distance to fewer image pixels to analyze.
Great Upgrade from the Older Versions Upgraded from a Gen 1 Doorbell Pro and what a difference. The image clarity and field of view is significantly better. What I did notice was the bandwidth requirement on the wifi was quite a bit higher than the old one but that was expected with the higher image quality. So far, it has much better alerts and object detection but you probably will need a newer wifi to support as it uses about 20mbps continuous which depending on how far the wifi router is, could be an issue. Nice quality I love this thing. I had a traditional doorbell before, but felt left out since all my neighbors around me were getting video doorbells. This specific doorbell has 4k quality and it zooms far. I don’t like the mini chime kit it comes with that much because it sounds weird. I might buy the normal chime where you plug into the wall.

Going to this new doorbell camera is like having cataract surgery. It’s so clear and crisp. Setup took me an hour total - I had to remove the old items, make some adjustments and repair wiring. Once everything was connected, connecting to my home wifi was easy and easy to do on my Ring app. The value I got this for was good too I feel. Can’t spea
