For the price, hard to beat for DIY projects After moving into my house, I found a number of areas where the previous owners had left drywall repairs for me to do (outlet box holes from a TV mounting, hole where a door knob had hit the wall, etc) plus I created my own when cutting access holes for speaker wiring and so forth. I tried the Homax can texture at first and got the same result as most people who try those expensive cans - poor. After watching some Youtube videos about DIY texturing with a compressed air hopper, I came across t
Compared with others, this may be best option. I'm a homeowner trying to repair a drywall hole, not a professional. My drywall had features of a heavy orange peel with light knockdown in certain areas. A few options I looked at were EZ Pro texture gun, Wagner electric texture sprayer, and this Hiltex spray gun. I personally tried both Hiltex and Wagner.Equipment Pricing: 2 of the 3 options require an air compressor, which I didn't have. So I accounted for the price of a used pancake air compressor on Facebook (~$100). The Ez Pro is $50, Hilt
Medium satisfaction First the good points:Inexpensive, it works, and the gun is fairly easy to clean. The bad points:Useless instructions, useless hopper clamp, No air control lever (was shown in picture), no 1/4 inch air hose adapter.Since there are limited instructions, I had to take the gun apart to figure out what the adjustment knob on the rear was for. It is just the spring tension adjustment for the texture opening. There is a hopper clamp at the base that is useless because the hopper plastic is hard and s
Wonderful Used this to texture my garage and it worked great. I had never did knockdown before in my life but it was pretty simple to use and I got the hang of it pretty quick. Very glad I bought it and it did a great job.
The right tool for the job—and affordable! My winter project this year is to remove all the popcorn from all the ceilings in my house, and do a knock-down texture instead. For years I've relied on a hand-pump texture sprayer for smaller drywall jobs, because the big honkers are way out of my price range, and I've never seen a simple one like this tool that I can just plug into my a/c. But with 1800 sq. ft. of ceiling to re-texture, the hand-pump was useless, and renting a big unit, when I'll be at this all winter (and maybe part of nex
Great value for 1-time use Nearly 1/2 the cost of what I could find at my big-box store, and it worked great for light popcorn texture on walls & ceiling of a fairly large bathroom reno. I've never done texture before, and this tool made it very simple. Easy to clean, setup, and use. Came w/ multiple nozzles (w/ no instructions). As many people have pointed out, the hopper easily falls off. This happened once while on the ladder doing the ceiling and it made a bit of a mess. I wish it was better attached.
First-timer with great results formula below in my comments. First time drywall texturing for me ever. Super easy to use and set up. You do need to purchase a female threaded quick connector to pop into your end of the air compressor hose. I needed a somewhat smaller grain splatter texture to match my walls. Watched every YouTube video I could over the course of four hours to try and get an idea of what to do. I ended up setting my air compressor at 90 PSI and had the throttle wide open on this Hopper.I used the medium size tip. I used the Green Top she
A few tricks they don't tell you about. I bought this for a bathroom renovation.....literally one wall that's 9 foot tall by about 15 long. This worked great. I used the Hobart premixed texture that came in ~ 1 gallon size. You could use sheetrock mud and save some money but I was looking for speed more than anything. The spray gun works really well but there are a few things to note. It has a gate valve at the handle that puzzled me since, one would assume, the trigger controls the flow of everything. It doesn't. The trigger only cont
